Biligirirangana
Betta(B.R.Hills) :It is 120 kms from
Mysore, 247 kms. from Bangalore and 30 kms. from
K. Gudi. The Biligirirangana range of hills is
picturesquely suited between the Cauvery and
the Tungabhadra rivers. At a height of 5,091
ft. above sea level, this hill stretches from
north to south for about 16 kms. All around are
deciduous trees. And roaming amidst the long
grass and tall trees are animals.

Wake up to the chirping of birds and the humming of bees.
Breathe in fresh, clean air. Take a stroll through
the sylvan surroundings. As the day slips quietly
into night, watch the stars come out, one by
one. The moon casts a silver light. It enjoys
cool and salubrious climate around the year The
best time to visit this place would be from November
to March. Language Spoken here are Kannada, Hindi
and English. The Ratha Festival at Biligirirangana
Betta is held during 'Vaishakha' in the month
of April. Once in 2 years the local tribes make
an offering of a large pair of slippers measuring
one foot and nine inches, made out of skin, to
the deity. |

Kudremukh :Situated 1,894.3
m above sea level and 95 kms south-west of Chikmagalur
town is the Kudremukh (Horse Face) range. It
is so named because of the unique shape of the
Kudremukh Peak. Overlooking the Arabian Sea,
the broad hills are chained to one another with
deep valleys and steep precipices. Kudremukh
is a secluded hill station which retains much
of its pristine, natural beauty. And a holiday
here can be truly delightful. Lush green forests
interspersed with rivers, grassy slopes, captivating
cascades and rare orchids. Kudremukh is rich
in iron ore deposits. The Kudremukh iron ore
Company conducts mining operations, beneficiation
and transportation of the ore as slurry through
a pipeline to the port at Panambur near Mangalore.
This has given new life to the region and converted
this isolated tract into a humming modern township,
without taking away its natural beauty. |

Kemmanagundi :Kemmanagundi is named
after the Wodeyar king Krishnaraja Wodeyar
IV, who made it his
favorite summer camp. Quite,
peaceful, serene. Nestling amidst lush green
forests, Kemmanagundi is sure revive and rejuvenate
one - physically, mentally & spiritually.
Situated in the Tarikere Taluk of Chikmagalur
District on the Baba Budan range at a height
of 1,434 m, is a picturesque hamlet Kemmanagundi,
also called K. R. Hills. It is the ideal place
to get away from the heat and dust, the crowds
and traffic jams of the cities.

Madikeri :Madikeri is 252 km from Bangalore
and 1525 m above sea level. It is a popular
hill station in
Karnataka.
It is the district headquarter of Kodagu. It
has been Dubbed as the Scotland of India due
to its misty hills, lush forests, acres and
acres of tea and coffee plantations, undulating
streets and breathtaking views. Local
food specialities include Pandhi Curry(Pork
Curry), Kadumbuttu (Rice Dumplings), Koli Curry
(Chicken Curry), Nool Puttu ( Rice Noodles),
Bembla Curry (Bamboo Shoot Curry) and Votti
(Rice Roti).
It is a great
place to walk. Winding lanes meander off the
main street. Mountain trails promise visual
delights. Tadiyendamol is the tallest
peak in the area, stands patiently, waiting
to be climbed. |

Nandi
Hills :The
summer resort - Nandi Hills is 60 kms north of
Bangalore and
also known as Nandidurga. One of the summer retreats
of Tipu Sultan, Nandi Hills was popular with
the British too who built bungalows and laid
out gardens here. Today it's a hot favorite among
Bangaloreans who find this an ideal get-away
for weekends.
The 1,478 m high Nandi Hills are the source
of many rivers. And the forests surrounding the hills, abound with wild animals.
Around the
Nandi Hills are several smaller hills which can be visited on foot.
Nandi Hills enjoys a moderate climate throughout the year. The
maximum and minimum temperatures during being 29 degree Celcius and 23 degree
Celcius in summer and 21 degree Celcius and 11 degree Celcius in
