Pilgrimage
No country in the world is full of so many religious pilgrim sites as India. India has welcomed all religions and people across the world thereby making itself more richer. It is a potpourri of different cultures, races, religions.

India is a secular country, where different religions are practiced and followed. There

are so many places, which are associated with the origin of various religions. The vastness of this country has many places of religious importance, all across the country. Every year thousands of people from all part of the world flock these religious sites to get spiritual knowledge or salvation.

Pilgrimages or 'Tirtha Yatras' have always been a significant feature of Hindu life. Millions of people in this country have been traversing its length and breadth to reach these centres of worship. India is the land of unity and diversity, where there is not a single place, where one can find similarities. Whether it is climate, culture, caste or religion, you will find people practicing different faith and religion. India is one such place where major religions of the world was founded or it has some important religious places of all religions. It is considered the mystical land for pilgrimage with century Old Temples, Churches, Mosques, Gurudwaras and many Monasteries.

India, which is often called " dev bhumi" or the abode of gods, has Amarnath temple in the north, Kanyakumari in the south and Kamakhya temlpe in the east. Every places has many interesting myths and legends. The interesting aspects of this legends are that very few of the has written records, otherwise, they are passed orally from generation to generation.

India is dotted with a number of pilgrimage sites belonging to various religions. These Pilgrimage will give glimpses of the significance of religion in the lives of the people of India, and their devotion towards Gods. Pilgrimage or 'Tirtha Yatras' have always been a significant feature of Hindus lives. It is a dream of every Indian irrespective of religion to visit the sacred places of their particular faiths. Millions of people in this country have been traversing its length and breadth to reach these center of worship to fulfill their long cherished dream.

KARNATAKA :-
GOKARNA : This coastal town is a must-see for Hindu pilgrims, Sanskrit scholars and beach buffs. Apart from its famed beaches and the Centre of Sanskrit Learning, it has the ancient temple of Mahabaleshwara with the Atmalinga, the Venkatramana Temple, the Ganapati Temple and the Kooti Tirtha, the large temple tank where pilgrims perform their ablutions.

MOOKAMBIKA TEMPLE : Amid the green canopy of the Western Ghats lies the village of Kollur, located 80 km northeast of Udupi. Here, the Mookambika Temple, one of the seven sacred spots of the coastal region, is dedicated to the goddess of emotional power and strength. It has gold plated crest and copper roofs. Adi Shankaracharya, the great philosopher, is said to have visited this temple and performed penance.

UDUPI : Approximately 60 km from Mangalore is the Vaishnavite pilgrimage town of Udupi. This was the sanctum of Madhavacharya, the great Sanskrit philosopher. It is known for its chefs, cuisine and restaurants as much as its Krishna Temple. The main attraction of this temple is the 'Kanakana kindi'- a small window through which Krishna is believed to have given darshan to his devotee, Kanakadasa, a saint-ministrel. The colourful Paryaya festival - when pontiffs change to officiate as priest once in two years - at Udupi beckons thousands of devotees from all over the country.

MURUDESHWAR : Located on the main Mangalore-Karwar highway, Murudeshwar is sandwiched between the picturesque Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. Its main attractions are its beach, the awesome Shiva statue and the famous Shiva Temple built in the Dravidian style depicting Chalukya and Kadamba sculptures on a hillock which offers a magnificent view of the sea.. | More Info |

ANDHRA PRADESH :-
Birla Mandir Hyderabad :Overlooking the Tank Bund, the Birla Mandir presents an arresting sight when illuminated in the evening. This magnificent structure built entirely out of marble from Rajasthan, stands atop the Kala Pahad, the twin hillock of the Naubat Pahad. Built by Birla Foundation over a span of ten years, the main temple is dedicated to Lord Venkatehwara.

Mukteshwara Swamy Temple Kaleshwaram : The ancient temple dedicated to Mukteshwara Swamy is of special significcanc0e as two Sivalingas are found on a single pedestal.

This picturesque spot Kaleswaram lies in the interior of thick forest at the confluence of the river Godavari and its tributary Pranahita. This place can be reached by bus from Karimnagar via Manthani or from Warangal via Parkal.

Dichpalli Temple Nizamabad : Just off the Hyderabad - Nizambad highway Dichpalli temple is located 15 Kms from Nizambad Town. Picturesquely located on a hillock , this beautiful temple of Rama is built of white and black basalt stone. An architrave at the foot of the hillock welcomes the visitors. The exquisite carvings on temple walls, ceiling and door frames display excellent craftsmanship of the 17th Century A.D. To the South of the Temple is an extensive tank amidst which nestles a pillared mandapam . The scenic locale adds to the beauty of the temple.

Mecca Masjid Hyderabad : A hundred yards southwest of the Charminar is the Mecca Masjid, so named because the bricks were brought from Mecca to build the central arch. The Qutb Shahis never finished the building of the mosque, which was completed by Aurangzeb in 1694. Mecca Masjid is poetry in stone, with a hall measuring 67m and soaring to a height of 54m.. | More Info |
