KERALA :-

Agasthyakoodam (famous peak) :About 1869 metres above sea level, Agasthyakoodam is a prominent peak in the Sahyadari ranges of the Western Ghats and can be approached on foot from Bonacadu, which is 61 kms away from Thiruvananthapuram. Tradition says that the great sage, Agasthya, had his abode in this

peak. The place is also noted for its abundant Ayurvedic herbs.

Padmanabhapuram Palace :The legendary Kings of Venad ruled from this magnificent 16th century wooden palace. The Padmanabhapuram Palace, 60 Kms. from Thiruvananthapuram, is now within the State of Tamil Nadu, but it was once the traditional home of the royal family of Travancore, so the Kerala Government maintains it. The palace is one of the best examples of the traditional wooden architecture of Kerala. Such stately homes were decorated with carved wooden ceilings, curved and slatted shuttered windows, intricate interlocking beams for the roof, sculpted door panels and pagoda like tiled roofs. Intricate carvings and murals, and exquisite wall paintings reflect the prolific talent of the sculptors and painters of the olden times.


TAMIL NADU :-

Udhagamandalam :Settlement in Udhagamandalam began in 1822 with the construction of the Stone House by John Sullivan, the then Collector of Coimbatore. The bungalow which is locally called Kal Bangla is one of the landmarks of Udhagamandalam and is now the Chamber of the Principal of the Government Arts College. Not many years after the construction of the Stone House, several other English cottages with pretty gardens, large bungalows of top officials in the Government are built.

Coakers Walk :This hill-edge path way was identified by Er. Coakers in 1872. About a Kilometer from the lake, Coakers Walk runs along a steep slope on the southern side of Kodai. It offers some of the best views of the Plains. Entry fee is collected per head here.

KODAIKANAL Lake View : A magnificent star-shaped lake glitters like a jewel amidst the Emerald Green wooded slopes. This 24 hectare lake is skirted by 5 Kms long. Blacktopped road is a focal point of Kodai. This lake was created in 1863 by Sir Vere Hentry Levinge(1885), who was the Collector of Madurai, retired and settled in Kodai. Shimoga :As per traditional derivations ,the name pertains to Lord Shiva ( 'Shiva - Mukha' - Face of shiva , 'Shivana - Mogu' - Nose of shiva, 'Shivana - Mogge' - Buds of flowers meant for shiva ) . According to the legend, the place had the ashram of the famous sage 'Durvasa' who was noted for his sharpness of temper. He used to keep on the oven a pot boiling with sweet herbs. Once, some cowherds, who chanced upon it, tasted the beverage out of curiosity and called the place 'Sihi- Moge' (Sweet Pot) , Which was later called as 'SHIMOGA'.. | More Info |


ANDHRA PRADESH :-

Vijaywada :Vijayawada is known as the political as well as publishing capital of andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada is a vital rail and road link between North and the South and is now known as 'the city that never sleeps'.

Tirupati :The abode of the 'Kaliyuga' deity Lord Venkateswara, popularly known as Balaji, Tirupati has for centuries remained a destination divine and this feeling grows on one as one goes round the various temples and spots of natural beauty surrounding this major town.

Ellora Caves :
Nestled in the crook of the Charanadari hill in Deccan is a series of ancient temples and monasteries hewn out of the moutainside. Situated on the ancient north- south trade route or the dakshinapatha, the tiny mountain village of Verul - mutated today to Ellora -was a well- known stopover for traders, priests and pilgrims who plied the route to the western ports.

Ajanta Caves :Way back in1819, a party of British army officers on a tiger hunt in the forest of western Deccan, suddenly spotted their prey, on the far side of a loop in the Waghora river. High up on the horseshoe- shaped cliff, the hunting party saw the tiger, silhouetted against the carved façade of a cave.

Ganpatipule :This is Ganapatiphule Land of the 400- year old Swayambhu ganapati and eager tourists. Set along the western coast of maharastra, is a small little village called Ganapatiphule. It is known for it's scerene sedate beach.. | More Info |
