Fee
waiver: The
third type of financial aid is the fee
waiver. The third type of financial aid
is the fee waiver. Financial aid and scholarships
are the best part of the education in the
U.S.A. Availability of financial aid is
very easy in U.S.A. and the quantum is
also bigger. Financial aid means not the
loan, but the money you do not have to
repay. It can be in the form of fellowships,
tuition fee waiver, research assistantship,
and teaching assistantship. Additional
on-campus jobs are also easily available
to students. These jobs can be in the form
of working in cafeteria, library, admission
office or other administrative work up
to a maximum of 20 hours a week. Off campus
work is strictly prohibited unless it forms
a part of the course. Violations of this
may lead to deportation. |
| Although the
above process and requirements seem to be
complex, education in U.S.A. is a very rewarding
experience because of the excellent facilities
available, suitable study environment for
international students and a world wide reputation. |

FOR HIGHER STUDIES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
THE
RHODES SCHOLARSHIPSThe
Rhodes Scholarships are offered to Indian
students
every year. A Rhodes Scholarship is tenable
at the University of Oxford. A Rhodes Scholarship
covers approved university and college fees
and other charges for which payment is made
directly to the scholar's college, together
with a personal allowance of not less than
7,000 pounds per year, which is paid to the
scholar, who should be a full time student.
The sum provided is sufficient to enable
a scholar to meet the necessary expenses
for the term-time and vacations. The Trust
will also meet the cost of a scholar's air
travel (economy class) to the United Kingdom
and return to India on completion of studies
at Oxford. Tenure of other awards in conjunction
with a Rhodes Scholarship is not permitted
without prior consultation with the Secretary
to the Trust in
Oxford.
Two
years is the minimum period and three years
is
the maximum for which Rhodes Scholarships
are awarded. The Rhodes Trustees would
consider granting a third year only if it
is clear
that the additional year is required in
the interests of the scholar's studies and
future career, and the work, conduct and
general
record have been satisfactory. |
